Fair Oaks District Officer of the Month: Jason Rucker

PFC Jason Rucker honored for May at monthly Citizen Advisory Committee meeting

Fair Oaks District Station named PFC Jason Rucker as Officer of the Month for May at the latest meeting of the Citizens' Advisory Committee.

Rucker received the recognition for his work on a case that eventually recovered 168 stolen GPS units, said Second Lt. Curtis Stevens, Rucker's supervising officer.

Because CAC did not meet in May, Rucker was honored at the June 28 meeting.

Rucker found out the identity of the suspect after responding to a person who reported his car had been broken into overnight and his cell phone and other items were missing. After taking the report, Rucker received a call from the burglary victim who said he had tracked the location of his cell phone through his computer. Rucker followed up on the tip, which resulted in the recovery of stolen GPS units and other items.

Police obtained about 15 warrants for the suspect in Fair Oaks, Sully and Reston districts.

About 100 GPS units have been returned to their owners.

"So we thank Officer Rucker for his good work," Stevens said.

The next CAC meeting will be 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Fair Oaks District Station on Lee Highway.
