Fair Oaks District Officer of the Month: Michael Weaver

Weaver earns the honor for December

The Fair Oaks Citizen Advisory Committee recognized Officer Michael Weaver as Officer of the Month for December last week.

Weaver earned the distinction for his thorough work on an embezzlement case, in which a woman took more than $60,000 from her company through gift cards, Lt. Dan Townsend said.

Weaver worked the intial case, but then chose to work on the long-term followup rather than hand it over to another department.

"He was able to get closure, charging her with a felony for about $30,000 of the money she took from this company," said Townsend, who is assistant commander of the Fair Oaks Station.

Three months later, she continued to embezzle from the company even after being terminated by fraudently purchasing equipment from various companies in the area.

Again, Weaver chose to see the case through to the end.

"He canceled a hunting trip to work on this case. I'm telling you right now, that's a big deal for him," Townsend laughed.

Weaver added three more felony charges and a misdemeanor to her case. She is now being held without bond.

"He epitomizes a young, hard-charging officer. I'm proud to have him at my station," said Capt. Ron Lantz, commander at Fair Oaks Station.
