Fair Oaks District Officers of the Month: Nathan Sloan & Jessica Kane
PFC Nathan Sloan and PFC Jessica Kane honored for June at monthly Citizen Advisory Committee meeting

Fair Oaks District Station named Officers Nathan Sloan and Jessica Kane as Officers of the Month for June at the latest meeting of the Citizens' Advisory Committee.
Sloan and Kane received the honor for their bravery in rescuing a driver from her car in a single-vehicle crash on Fairfax County Parkway in April.
A 20-year-old, who police later said was intoxicated while driving, crashed her Ford Mustang into a construction site on the Fairfax County Parkway.

Several officers showed up to the incident, but Kane and Sloan pulled her from the car while it was on fire. Kane cut the seat belt, and both officers forced open the front door, which had been jammed from the heavy front-end damage.
"Probably no more than 10 seconds after they pulled her out, the first tire exploded," said Sgt. J.J. Norman, who presented them with their awards. "Without them doing what they did, she certainly would not have survived the wreck."

The woman was released from the hospital that night.
"They did an incredible job. They saved a life, and there's nothing better than that," said Fair Oaks Capt. Ron Lantz.
