Five Days Later: Debris Still Blocks Roadways
Power problems after derecho continue in Oakton, Fairfax County

UPDATE (9:30 a.m.): Dominion Virginia Power has released its list of work sites for Wednesday. Among them are:
- Carter Cooper Way & Stuart Mill Road
- Hunt Road, south of Fox Den Lane
- Vale Spring Drive & Vale Road
- Barden Oaks Court at Blake Lane
- Birdfoot Lane, south of Lawyers Road
- Bushman Drive at Baltusrol Court
- Hunter Mill Road, south of Samaga Drive
- Miller Road, west of Wilson Avenue

Dominion Virginia Power estimates 22,862 customers in Fairfax County remain powerless after Friday's derecho, including some in Oakton neighborhoods, as of 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Each morning, Dominion has released a list of streets where crews will be working to restore power. On Tuesday, the list included Hunt Road, Marbury Road, Oak Place and Chain Bridge Road, Rosehaven Street and Chain Bridge Road, Vale Road and Fox Mill Road and Birdfoot Lane.
But the interactive outage map shows hundreds are still in the dark, some near the areas attended to by the crews, as of 1 a.m.

A work list for Wednesday has not yet been released. Oakton Patch will update this article with the information as it becomes available.
As of about 1 a.m. the following roads in and around the Oakton-Vienna are closed because of debris, showing little change since Tuesday, according to 511virginia.org:
- Rosehaven Street, near Spruce Street (Oakton)
- Fox Mill Road, from Vale Road to Foxvale Road (Oakton)
- Birdfoot Lane, from Stuart Mill Road to Lawyers Road (Vienna)
- Hunter Mill Road, from Silk Oak Drive to Tamarack Drive (Vienna)
- Clarks Crossing Road, near Timberview Court (Vienna)
- Dawes Ave, near N. Chambliss St. (Bailey's Crossroads)
- Prince William Drive, from Coronado Terrace to Hamilton Drive (Mantua)
- Juniper Street, off Lee Highway (Merrifield)

Stay Cool
If you're without power, consider getting relief from the heat at the closest recreation center. , along with all other open county recreation centers, has extended its July 4 hours until 6 p.m.
Libraries, including , are closed today for the July 4 holiday.
Also: Worried dealing with the storm and its aftermath has left you with an overdue fee at the library? Don't. Items due between June 29 and July 8 are now due July 9. Customer records have been adjusted to reflect the new due date.
Clearing Debris
Residents can use Fairfax County's two disposal facilities, which accept tree branches that are 20 inches or less in diameter, to rid their yard of debris:

Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. - I-95 Solid Waste Complex

Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Special July 4 schedule:

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for deliveries from residents only
9 a.m. to 6 p.m. brush accepted from commercial haulers
NO TRASH from commercial haulers - I-95 Solid Waste Complex
7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for deliveries from residents only
7 a.m. to 6 p.m. brush accepted from commercial haulers
Trash from commercial haulers accepted from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The facilities charge a minimum $5 fee for residents. Payment may be made by cash, Visa or MasterCard. If residents utilize the county's trash collection services, they must call to schedule a brush pickup at 703-802-3322. Others should contact their own trash collection company for instructions.
