Flint Hill Girls Lacrosse Builds on Young Speed
Huskies hope to finish higher in the ISL rankings with a young, fast team
Though the Flint Hill girls lacrosse team lost significant players from last year's offense, the Huskies have set the goal to place higher in the Independent School League than their 2011 fourth-place finish.
After graduating Jess Fellows (Naval Academy), Claire Doyle (Bucknell), Meaghan Stertzer and Lauren Police, who combined for majority of the Huskies' points, the team is rebuilding with a young but talented team.
"Because we're young, we're still working on gelling, especially on offense," Coach Samantha Eustace said. "We're working on getting our offense to feel good about going to goal."

Eustace has already seen improvement since the start of the season, and hopes the team's speed and depth will carry them far.
"We have the biggest squad I've ever coached at Flint Hill," said Eustace, who is in her third season. "We're really fast this year, and because we have depth we can rotate in some middies who can run forever. That makes a big difference."

The Huskies have four seniors, eight juniors, six sophomores and five freshman. Juniors Hannah Donegan and Jillian Goulding run the Huskies' speedy midfield, while junior Ansley Gibson guards the goal. Goulding and Gibson are co-captains with seniors Caroline Stottlemyer and Mary Lewis.
Two freshman, Lizzie Schwien and Annie Montagne tied with Donegan to lead the team in goals in the Huskies' latest 14-3 victory over Georgetown Day School with three goals each.
"We finished fourth in the upper division [of the ISL] last year and I think we can do better than that this year," Eustace said. "It's one of our goals our captains set out. I think we'll be competitive, which is what we want to be every time we step foot on the field."
The Huskies will travel to Collegiate on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. game.
