Friday Arts Roundup: Senators on Stage in Fairfax County

Check out these plays, auditions, etc. in Northern Virginia this weekend.

The Sun Will Come Out .... This Weekend. In Fairfax City, the City of Fairfax Theatre Company is putting on Annie the Musical, featuring two full casts that include an adorable set of 4-year-old twins, and Virginia’s own State Sen. Chap Petersen (D-34th) who will play President Theodore Roosevelt.

Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.) will narrate a part of a Wolf Trap show this weekend. Warner will participate in “America the Beautiful" in conjunction with the National Symphony Orchestra. Warner will narrate Lincoln Portrait, a work written as part of a patriotic war effort during World War II, according to a press release from Wolf Trap. The performance takes place Saturday night. 

Take a trip back to the '50's. The Herndon High School Drama Boosters present its summer theatre production of Bye Bye Birdieopening this weekend. The show will run throughout the weekend. Opening night: Friday, July 26, 7:30 p.m. Shows run Saturday at 7:30 p.m and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Peter and the Wolf: The Pushcart Players present Sergei Prokofiev’s classic fairytale Peter and the Wolf at Wolf Trap's Theatre in the Woods program Saturday.

Musicians wanted: If you love music and video games, this orchestra's for you. The brand-new Washington Metropolitan Gamer Symphony Orchestra is seeking vocalists and instrumentalists.
