Because the Cougars stayed in charge throughout the game, Coach Dylan Forshay was able to give all of his players time on the field.

"A game like this gives the girls coming off the bench valuable experience before we go into district play," Forshay said. "When you get the opportunity to play every girl on your team for more than 10 minutes, it's valuable time."

The Cougars will face one more nondistrict opponent — Lake Braddock on Thursday — before starting Concorde District play after spring break.

Before they compete against district opponents, Forshay wants to see his team continue to coalesce and find the just-right rhythm. He is also putting a focus on fitness, noting the starters stayed in as long as they did — about 20 minutes each half — to work on fitness.

"Five games in, you want to be fit. We want to be as fit as possible going into the district tournament," Forshay said. "It's an upward battle for us, but we're getting there. Overall, I'm really happy with where we are."
