Girls Tennis: Cougars Avenge Only Loss of the Season

Earlier this season, the Oakton High girls tennis team snapped a regular season win streak that dated back to 2010 in a narrow 5-4 loss to Chantilly. On Tuesday, the Cougars turned the one-point deficit into a one-point advantage to defeat the Chargers 5-4.

Though the Cougars No. 1 and No. 2 singles players fell to their opponents — which accounted for junior Katie Clark's first singles loss in the regular season since her freshman year — the players in the last four slots pulled through for the Cougars.

After Varsha Bhargava, Annalise Capalbo, Taleen Avedisian and Lily Moens won their singles matches, Clark and No. 2 Alina Suyama recovered from their individual losses to combine for the Cougars' sole doubles win to tip the final score in their favor.
