Most parents work very hard to come up with rules for their children that will help keep them safe. As kids get older, rules change to allow them more freedom and independence while still maintaining age-appropriate boundaries. It's important for them to have opportunities to hone their decision-making skills and become responsible for themselves.

With high school graduations approaching and college looming in the fall, many parents are preparing their kids to be unsupervised and on their own for the first time. 

With that in mind, will your house rules change in anticipation of your kids heading off to college? Will the rules be different for a 17-year-old new college student versus an 18-year-old?
