When I was a kid, my little brother and I lived for Saturday morning cartoons. Bugs and Daffy, Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, Porky Pig ... Is it any wonder my brother thought he could push me down the stairs and I'd be just fine once we cut to the next scene?

These days kids' shows have more violence, mature content, stronger language ... not to mention you can turn on the television any day of the week, any time of the day or night and find Spongebob, iCarly or a Harry Potter movie playing.

With the constant access and less restrictive content, how do you decide what shows are appropriate for your children? Do you go strictly by the TV ratings or on a case-by-case basis?
