Oakton Divers Beat Dunn Loring 50 to 22 in Division 1 Meet on Tuesday
Oakton Otter Divers are a Force in Division 1.
The Oakton Otter dive team continued to show that it is a force to be reckoned with in Division 1 with a decisive victory over Dunn Loring (final score of 50 to 22) on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.
The Otters hosted Dunn Loring Tuesday evening for their second dive meet of the season. The evening began with a group of girls (Freshman and Junior Girls from both teams) who sang the National Anthem together, even though they had never met before. However, after the performance, the Otter divers immediately turned their attention to the competition at hand and proceeded to dominate on the boards in nearly every category.
The Otters took first place in six of the eight categories: Simone Wilson in Freshman Girls with a score of 58.4; J.J. Roberts in Freshman Boys with a score of 92.4; Collin Henriques in Junior Boys with a score of 89.15; Isabelle Whang in Intermediate Girls with a score of 144.15; Jon Anthony Montel in Intermediate Boys with a score of 153.5; and Katie Vaughan in Senior Girls with a score of 192.05.

The Otters swept the category of Freshman Boys (Tyler Kroopnick in second and Alex Lee in third). The other Oakton divers who placed were: Mackenzie Martin (Freshman Girls, tied for second); Charlotte Henderson (Junior Girls, second); Ella Henderson (Junior Girls, third); Christopher Whang (Junior Boys, third); Megan Shipley (Intermediate Girls, third); Thibault Lede (Intermediate Boys, second); Sophie Whang (Senior Girls, third); Spencer Dearman (Senior Boys, second); and Brendan Doe (Senior Boys, third).
The Otters brought their winning record to 2-0 and will face Vienna Woods on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

The Otters also won their developmental meet against Fairfax on Thursday, June 23, with a final score of 48 to 19. The Otters took first place in nearly every category: Katherine Emerick in 8 and under Girls with a score of 39.05; Tyler Kroopnick in 8 and Under Boys with a score of 56.9; Heidi Van Brackle in Freshman Girls with a score of 36; Timmy Van Haute in Freshman Boys with a score of 50.1; Genevieve Wilson in Junior Girls with a score of 73.85; Sam Zarechnak in Junior Boys with a score of 76.4; and Samantha Schuster in Intermediate Girls with a score of 98.2. The other Otters who placed were: Gabriel Wilson (8 and under Boys); Owen McLenahan (8 and under boys); Caitlin Walsh (Freshman Girls); Logan Parker (Freshman Boys); and Simon Goldstein (Junior Boys).
And finally, the Oakton Otters continue a long-standing tradition this summer of honoring their hardest working divers ("Otters of the Week"). The Otters of the Week for the week of June 20, 2022 were Ryan Shipley (Intermediate Boy) and Charlotte Henderson (Junior Girl).
