Update (11:50 a.m.): Oakton High School sent out an email to Keep In Touch subscribers regarding the ticket situation:

"We are very excited for tonight's game! As you may have heard, tickets are sold out online. We are working diligently to secure tickets for all of our awesome fans! If we are unable to secure enough tickets, we may have to cancel a fan bus. The Siegal Center has posted that tickets will be sold at the box office IF they become available at 6:15 p.m. We will not have final confirmation of ticket availability for our fan bus until 1:30 p.m. We will send a KIT update as soon as we receive confirmation of tickets for our fans, if your student is unable to ride the bus we will have them call you. Thank you for your flexibility!

Update (10:50 a.m.): Banbury is short 125 tickets from securing all the seats needed to accommodate students who have expressed interest in attending. He is continuing his efforts to gain the seats.

Oakton Cougar fans may be disappointed to find they cannot attend the girls basketball AAA Virginia High School League Championship game tonight against Princess Anne High, as tickets for the Siegel Center are sold out.

With rumors flying that fans of one boys team bought up a large chunk of the tickets, fans are beginning to think they will have to head down to Richmond and rely on fate to see the Cougars play.

Tickets are sold by session, so fans of teams in both the girls and boys championships being played tonight vie for the venue's 7,500 seats.

After fans alerted the Oakton High administration of the situation, Principal John Banbury has called a meeting with VHSL officials to try to figure out a plan to allow more Cougar fans into the stadium, according to Oakton Media Group, the high school's student news club.

After meeting with VHSL, Banbury assured parents of players on the team they will have seats at the game — though a procedure for procuring the tickets has not yet been determined — according to an email sent to basketball parents this morning.

From what fans have been told, the students who reserved seats on the bus caravan will have tickets into the game — though there is the possibility one of the four buses will have to be canceled because of a ticket shortage. Those who planned to drive down themselves and had not yet bought tickets will possibly be out of luck.

Patch will update the story as information becomes available. Fans can email Nicole.Trifone@patch.com or tweet @OaktonPatch with updates on their quest to find tickets.
