Oakton Man Injured After Accidentally Shooting Himself: Police

Police say the injuries an Oakton man suffered after accidentally discharging his pistol were not life threatening.

OAKTON, VA -- Fairfax County Police say an Oakton man accidentally discharged his gun and shot himself over the weekend and went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the incident took place Saturday night and was reported around 9:45 p.m. in the 10300 block of Emerald Rock Drive in Oakton (see map below), where officers responded to a report of a shot person.

A 36-year-old man accidentally discharged one round after mishandling his pistol, police said. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing; police say that possible charges are pending.
