Oakton Woman, Son Flee Home to Escape Burglar: Police

Police say Oakton resident escaped home early Wednesday after seeing a burglar enter her home; she and her son called police from outside.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- An Oakton resident awoke early Wednesday to find a burglary suspect in her home, according to Fairfax County Police.

The woman, who lives in the 2400 block of Mare Lane (see map below) off of Vale Road in Oakton, called police at 3:25 a.m. from outside her home. She said the incident began when she woke up to see a man walking into her home from an unlocked door, according to police. She ran out of the home with her son and called police. The suspect also ran away, police said.

The victims were not harmed, police said. Officers checked the area but could not locate the suspect.
