Seven Oakton Students Receive Cappies Nominations

The Critics and Awards Program, or "Cappies," have unveiled their 2011 nominations. Students and schools receive nominations based on votes from student critics, who are theater and journalism students who have been trained as critics and attend shows at other schools to write reviews.

The nominations for Oakton High School and its students are as follows:

• Graduating Critic: Chris Papas
• Critic Team: Oakton High School
• Stage Crew: Oakton High School
• Choreography: Sarah Smith
• Female Dancer: Kit Mahoney
• Male Vocalist: Henry Ragan
• Comic Actress in a musical: Esther Workman
• Comic Actor in a musical: Kevin Sol

The 12th annual Cappies Gala will be held at the Kennedy Center at 7 p.m. June 12.
