Shutout Loss Ends Vienna's Run at State Title
15-U team loses 8-0 to New Kent to end their season

The in the state tournament came back to haunt the 15-U Vienna All-Stars, leading to an 8-0 loss to New Kent that eliminated them from the Babe Ruth Leagues of Virginia State Tournament on Sunday.
After giving up two runs in the first inning, Vienna then allowed three more runs in the second inning, in which they also committed five errors.
The New Kent starting pitcher, Tyler Lambert, pitched a complete game shutout. Lambert allowed four hits — two to Alec Dolton and one each to Kalib Ashcraft and Tommy Doyle — and struck out three.

While shutting down Vienna's offense, New Kent continued to build their lead, tacking on three more insurance runs — one in the fourth and two in the sixth — for a final score of 8-0.
Vienna has now been eliminated from the state tournament, which ends their 5-2 season.

New Kent will continue in the tournament at Waters Field, playing the winner of this afternoon's Springfield vs. Lane game at 7 p.m. today. The winner of that game will then have to win a double-header Monday for a shot at the championship title.
