Thoreau Middle on Lockdown after Nearby Bank Robbery
Police investigate robbery at Cedar Park BB&T

Update: Thoreau Middle has sent an email to parents saying normal operations have resumed.
"Staff reacted swiftly and appropriately, and our students behaved in an exemplary manner. At no time was anyone on school property in any danger," Thoreau Principal Greg Hood said of the school's "secure the building" mode in an email to parents.

has been placed under lockdown as a Tuesday robbery at the Cedar Park BB&T is being investigated.
Vienna Police Officer Bill Murray said it is not clear what time the lockdown will end or how it will affect afternoon dismissal at the Vienna school, which includes Oakton residents among its students.

Thoreau staff member Donna Fernandez said the school's grounds are secured so nobody can enter or exit the building.
Police have not yet released information on whether the bank, at 260 Cedar Lane SE, was robbed by one or multiple suspects, if they were armed or if anyone was injured in the event.
