Track and Field: Oakton Girls Earn Second Straight District Title; Boys Miss First By One Point

Oakton girls track and field dominated Concorde District opponents to take the district title for the second year in a row. With a score of 176, the girls won with the highest score ever in Concorde District history and a wide margin over the runnerup, Robinson, who scored 127. Sophomore Meghan Jean-Baptiste helped lead the girls with first place honors in long jump, high jump, 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles, and third place in triple jump.

This is the fifth title in a row for the girls running program having swept cross-country, indoor and outdoor track this year, and also earning indoor and outdoor track titles last year.

The Oakton boys had a heartbreaking loss, missing the district title by just one point. Instead they took second with 107 points, as opposed to Chantilly's first-place 108. Senior Stephen Michaelis had an outstanding meet, winning both discus and shotput, qualifying for regionals in the 100 dash, and anchoring the regional-qualifying 4x100 relay.
