High Wind Watch Issued by National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for the DC metro region, starting Saturday night and continuing through Sunday morning.

The areas under the watch include DC, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Arlington County and the cities of Fairfax, Falls Church, Leesburg and Alexandria.

The weather service says to expect northwest winds from 25 to 40 MPH with gusts up to 60 MPH. The area could see downed trees, downed power lines and minor structural damage.

Driving "high profile" vehicles in these conditions is dangerous, the weather service warns.

Loudoun County is also under a Freeze Watch for the same time period. Lows are expected in the 30s across the region Saturday night into Sunday morning.
