Police Log: Grand Larceny On Cedar Lane, Jesus Missing From Nativity Scene

The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction

Highlights from the Vienna Police Department, Dec. 22 to 29

  • An employee of POSH, 419 Maple Avenue , reported between 10:30 p.m. Dec. 21 and 8 a.m. Dec. 22, a group of people had been drinking alcohol behind the business and leaving the bottles behind.
  • A postal worker reported finding a wallet at 12:55 p.m. Dec. 22 near , 730 Marshall Road SW. Police could not locate the owner; the wallet was put in storage until it is claimed.
  • At 3 p.m. Dec. 22,  a Town of Vienna zoning inspector reported a homeowner on Park Street was using construction equipment and causing a nuisance. Police investigated and found no violation of law.
  • Police responded to a call for a domestic dispute at 10:06 p.m. Dec. 22 on Hillcrest Drive. They heard two people arguing, and when they separated the pair, discovered the mother of a 2-month-old child had gone out, but when she returned, neither the baby or its father, with whom she had left the child, were home. Once the baby and father returned to the house an argument ensued. The couple was given information about available services.
  • At 6:38 a.m. Dec. 23, Police saw a trash collection vehicle emptying a dumpster at , 411 Maple Avenue E in violation of Vienna's noise ordinance. Police issued a summons to Robert Carpenter, 52, of Reston, for the violation. He was released after signing it.
  • A woman on Adelman Circle SW reported at 7:38 a.m. Dec. 23 her oven was on fire. Police responded and found the fire had extinguished itself. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue also responded to check the home for fire extension.
  • Police responded to a call for a domestic dispute at 10 a.m. Dec. 23 on Hillcrest Drive SW. They found a woman who reported her husband and children were upset she was drinking alcohol. Police counseled all involved parties and the woman and husband left to seek treatment for her dependency at an area hospital.
  • Keys were reported found at 1:55 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 400 block of Marshall Road SW. The keys were placed into storage until their owner could be located.
  • A resident reported at 3:48 p.m. Dec. 23 a baby Jesus was stolen from the manger in their nativity scene on Tapawingo Road SE. 
  • A resident reported her 13-year-old daughter was threatening to harm herself at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 23. Police responded and took the girl to a local hospital for assessment and treatment.
  • A resident reported between 8 p.m. Dec. 23 and 8 a.m. Dec. 24, someone let the air out of all four of his truck tires, which was parked in a common parking area on Patrick Street SE. 
  • Police responded at 10:43 p.m. Dec. 23 to a complaint from a tenant who said his landlord threatened to throw his belongings out of the home after he had placed some items in the kitchen area, which made the landlord upset. Police counseled both people involved. They agreed to separate until the complainant moves out in a few weeks.
  • Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at 9:34 a.m. Dec. 23 on John Marshall Drive NE. When they arrived, they found a husband holding his wife down. After investigating, police discovered the wife was trying to ingest medication in an attempt to harm herself and the husband was concerned for her welfare. The wife eventually agreed to seek help at an area hospital. 
  • Police responded to a report of suspicious noises at 5:04 a.m. Dec. 25 in an apartment complex on Patrick Street SE. They found a man screaming outside an apartment and discovered he was drunk. The man, Jose Rigoberto Requeno, 31, of Patrick Street, was arrested for drunk in public and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
  • A contractor reported between 6 p.m. Dec. 26 and 7 a.m. Dec. 27, someone had cut four power cables at a site on Elaine Circle SE. 
  • A resident reported between 10 p.m. Dec. 26 and 2 p.m. Dec. 27, someone had damaged his Murray Lane mailbox with an unknown object. 
  • An employee of 7-11 reported at 2:10 a.m. Dec. 27 someone entered the store and stole a bottle of wine.
  • Police responded to a commercial intrusion alarm at 7:59 a.m. Dec. 27 on Pine Street SE. They found two people outside a business, and discovered one of them had arrived there hoping to find his dentist; the man had broken a tooth and wanted to have it repaired. He tried to enter the dentist's office, but it was still closed, so the action triggered the alarm.
  • A resident of Center Street North reported she believed her husband had hidden marijuana in the house between 4:07 p.m. Dec. 27 and 4:07 p.m. Dec. 28. Police responded but were unable to find any marijuana; further investigation revealed the husband likely disposed of the marijuana prior to police arrival.
  • A citizen reported a man appeared to be drunk near the CVS, 337 Maple Avenue SE. Police found the man and after investigating arrested Justin Elliot Hickman, 30, of Vienna, for drunk in public. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
  • A resident reported between 5 p.m. Dec. 28 and 6 a.m. Dec. 29, someone drilled out a lock on his vehicle on Cedar Lane SE, and stole a laptop computer, an electronic tablet device and a GPS unit. Police are investigating the case.
  • A resident reported between 4 and 10:40 p.m., someone damaged his mailbox on Tapawingo Road SE.
  • An employee of , 200 Maple Avenue SE, reported at 3:16 p.m. Dec. 29 two youth had scratched letters into a leather chair. They left before police were notified.
  • A Red Mango employee reported at 3:55 p.m. Dec. 29 an elderly man was harassing customers. He had left the store before police arrived.
