Police Log: Gun Discharged Inside Home
The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Police are investigating a domestic disturbance call during which a gun was discharged inside a residence on Cottage Street SW.
Officers were called to the home at 8:14 p.m. Jan. 9 after a woman reported her
adult brother discharged a handgun inside the residence. During the investigation, police discovered the brother was threatening to harm himself with the weapon and it discharged accidentally.
The woman and another brother safely exited the home and officers confronted the man in the front yard. The suspect disregarded officer’s commands and ran back into the home. Officers pursued him into the home and detained him.

The suspect was eventually taken to an area medical facility for evaluation
and treatment.
Police are continuing to investigate the case.

Other highlights from the Vienna Police Department log, Jan. 6 to 12:
- A woman reported between Dec. 20 and Dec. 31, she gave some jewelry to an acquaintance so it could be appraised. The acquaintance now reports she cannot find one of the pieces of jewelry and isn't sure where it is. Police are investigating the case.
- A resident reported between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Dec. 27, someone changed his address and attempted to access funds in a Fidelity credit card account.
Police are investigating the case. - A woman reported a stranger left a letter on her windshield at 9:27 a.m. Jan. 6 on Center Street North. The letter discussed a neighbor’s personality. The letter went on to make some unsubstantiated comments regarding the neighbor. Detectives found nothing criminal regarding the letter after investigating this case.
- Police responded to a report of a disorderly person at 12:55 p.m. Jan. 6 in the parking lot of CVS, 337 Maple Avenue E. Police found a woman who said she was parking her vehicle in the lot when another woman she didn't know came up to her window and yelled some crude remarks. After an investigation, Police identified the second woman and interviewed her. She said the driver was blocking the entrance to a store and became angry with her. Police counseled the woman regarding her language and its usage.
- Police responded to a report of men soliciting autobody work at 2:10 p.m. Jan. 6 in the parking lot of Giant supermarket, 359 Maple Avenue SE. After identifying the two men and checking for outstanding warrants, Police issued. Steve Michael Nicholas, 24, of Alexandria and Louis Paul Demitro, 25, of Springfield summonses for soliciting without a Town of Vienna license. The two were released after signing the summonses.
- An employee of Animal Scan Veterinary Imaging, 328 Maple Avenue NE, reported between Jan. 6 and 9 someone had painted graffiti on an exterior wall.
- A woman reported at 7:04 p.m. Jan. 6 a clock was sitting on top of a washing machine in the laundry room of an apartment building on Patrick Street SE. Police found no wires attached to the clock or anything dangerous. They removed it and gave it to Vienna Park Apartment staff.
- A woman reported sometime between 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Jan. 7, someone had entered her home on Hickory Circle SW and scratched some kitchen cabinets. The woman, who was the new owner of the home, said she had yet to change the locks after purchasing the home and isn't sure who might have entered the house.
- A woman reported while she inside her home at 9:21 p.m. Jan. 7 on Lynn Street SW, a stranger attempted to break into her home. The man was able to unlock the window and reach inside; an occupant of the home yelled and he fled. A Fairfax County K-9 unit responded to assist in the search for the subject but was unable to locate him. _This case is still being investigated -- it has not yet been linked to _
- A woman reported between Jan. 7 and 10, her car battery, a bracket and associated cables were stolen from her vehicle on Orchard Street. The vehicle was parked in her driveway and there were no signs of forced entry.
- While conducting a traffic stop at 12:42 a.m. Jan. 8 near Park Street and Maple Avenue SE, Police suspected the presence of alcohol. Further investigation revealed a passenger in the vehicle had unlawfully consumed alcohol while underage. Marcus Gillespie, 19, of Chester, Virginia, was issued a summons for the violation and released after signing it.
- Police responded to a report of a residential intrusion alarm at 1:04 a.m. Jan. 8 on Moorefield Road SW. Police found an unsecured door but an interior search of the home yielded nothing unusual; police secured the door upon exiting.
- A man reported while he was in his basement at 5:15 a.m. Jan. 8 on Old Courthouse Road NE, he observed an unknown subject walking near a window. The man began to chase the subject but was unable to catch the individual as he entered a red Doge truck and hurriedly drove away.
- A woman reported at noon Jan. 9 a tenant of a home on Moore Avenue assaulted her. The tenant suffers from mental health issues and was asked to move out. The warrant obtainment process was explained to the complainant.
- A man reported while waiting for a package to be delivered at 6:40 p.m. Jan. 9 to his home on Ware Street SW, he saw a FedEx truck arrive and depart but noticed that the driver left no package. After contacting FedEx and speaking to the driver the man learned that the driver was greeted by a Hispanic man, who accepted delivery of the package. The man, who is not known by the homeowner, told the driver that he was doing work on the house and nobody was home. Police are still investigating the case.
- At 2:29 p.m. Jan. 10, a former employee of , 308 Maple Avenue E, returned to the cafe because he didn’t understand why he was fired. The man was asked to leave the property by management but refused to do so. Officers convinced the individual to comply with the request and the manager banned him from the store.
- An employee of , 226 Maple Avenue W, reported at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 10 a suspicious man entered the bank with some documents and began asking about an alleged account in his father’s name. The same individual had approached several other banks during the day in an attempt to locate the assets of his father, who appears to have recently passed away. The son was unsure which bank his father was using while still alive, he said. The bank’s legal team will follow up with the individual.
- An employee of the Vienna Post Office reported at 3:35 p.m. Jan. 10 her ex-boyfriend pushed her through a doorway. The two work in the same building and the management is aware of the issue. Police explained the warrant obtainment process to the woman.
- A father reported at 6:51 p.m. Jan. 11 he was concerned about his daughter's mental state. Police responded to their home on Frederick Street SW and after interviewing the adult daughter, determined that she was in need of services. The daughter was taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment.
- Police saw a trash collection truck emptying dumpsters at 6:30 a.m. Jan. 12 at the at 427 Maple Avenue, East, a violation of the town’s noise ordinance. The truck driver, Bryan Keith Kile, 40, of Ruther Glen, Virginia, was issued a summons for the violation. He was released after signing the summons.
- A town employee found a glass smoking device, typically used to smoke marijuana, at 1:54 p.m. Jan. 12 in the park on Ross Drive SW. The device was collected and will be destroyed.
- A man reported his daughter called him around 2:40 p.m. Jan. 12 as she got home from school, saying she heard glass shattering inside the house on Marshall Road SW. Police responded and found a broken window in a basement area. Further investigation revealed that several rooms were in disarray and there were muddy footprints inside the home. Arlington County Police K-9 responded to attempt a track of the suspect(s) but the dog was unable to locate him or her.
- At 4 p.m. Jan. 12, a man reported while eating at , 111 Church Street NW, a man he knew shook hands with him and squeezed his hand roughly. The subject then sat down while the customer was eating and made sexual, as well as threatening comments. The subject left the restaurant prior to police arriving. The restaurant manager and complainant were advised regarding several legal options.
- A woman reported her daughter was home alone when an unknown person knocked on the door of the Harmony Drive SW home. When the mother arrived back at the house around 10:07 p.m. Jan. 12, she discovered that someone had stolen a Christmas wreath from the front door and left a note containing obscenities.
ARRESTS
While conducting a traffic stop at 12:07 a.m. Jan. 7 near Maple Avenue and Niblick Drive SE, police suspected the driver might be impaired. After attempting to complete several field sobriety tests, Juan Armando Saenz- Sanchez, 25, of Camden, South Carolina, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center for breath analysis and then formally charged with the offense.
While conducting a traffic stop at 2:35 p.m. Jan. 7 on Maple Avenue NE, Police detected what seemed to be marijuana inside the vehicle. Upon further investigation, police found the suspected marijuana. A 17-year-old Vienna man who was a passenger in the vehicle was arrested and taken to Vienna Police Headquarters, where he was released to his mother. The officer will obtain petitions charging the young man with possession of marijuana.
