Police Log: Officers Investigate String Of Mailbox Vandalisms

The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Vienna Police are looking for the people responsible for a series of mailbox vandalisms late last month.

Officers responded to a report of mailbox damage at three separate addresses on Ayrhill Avenue NE at the end of December. It is believed they were damaged sometime between 6 p.m. Dec. 29 and 8:30 a.m. Dec. 30.

Police are still investigating the case.

A person, known to police, called Vienna Police Department at 2:54 p.m. Jan. 5 for non-police related issues. The same person has also made inappropriate sexual comments to various employees. Police are investigating the case.

Other highlights from the Vienna Police log, Dec. 30 to Jan. 5:

  • The owner of Lofty Salon, 354 Maple Avenue W, reported at 9 a.m. Dec. 26 a customer had written bad checks to her salon. When she contacted the customer who wrote the checks, the owner was told they were written in an attempt to overdraw the customer's ex- boyfriend’s account. Police are still investigating the case.
  • A resident reported between 6 p.m. Dec. 29 and 7:30 a.m. Dec. 30, someone scratched his vehicle on James Drive SW. The scratch ran the entire length of the vehicle.
  • Police responded at 6:55 a.m. Dec. 30 to Holloway Court NE to assist Fairfax County Code Compliance Officer with a report of a hoarding case involving multiple animals. The compliance officer had obtained a search warrant for the residence and a search of the home was completed. The investigation revealed no violations of the law had occurred; there are several animals residing at the home but they are all in good health.
  • Around 12:15 a.m. Jan. 1, an employee of CVS, 337 Maple Avenue E, reported an elderly male was in the store and acting strangely. Police responded and interviewed the man and learned where he lived. He was taken to his home just outside of the Town and released to the care of his wife.
  • A Westwood Drive resident reported at 1:40 a.m. Jan. 1 a neighbor had broken a pane of glass out of his front door, in an attempt to gain entrance to his home, where he was hosting a party. After the glass broke, the neighbor left the area. Police investigated and identified the neighbor. Additional investigation revealed the neighbor had gone to the home in an attempt to have them turn down the music at the party. While the neighbor was banging on the window it broke. The complainant elected to prosecute the neighbor in lieu of having her pay for the damage. Pamela Logan, 55, of Country Club Drive in Vienna was issued a summons for destruction of property and released upon her signature.
  • A woman reported she was attending a party at 4:45 a.m. Jan. 1 on Manvell Road, SE when the host’s ex- boyfriend arrived. The ex-boyfriend began being disruptive and assaulted the woman. The assailant left the area prior to police arrival. Police explained the warrant obtainment process to the woman.
  • A father reported at 10:33 a.m. Jan.1 his daughter was acting out in her bedroom. Police responded to the home on Thelma Circle and spoke to the adult daughter, who stated she wanted to go shopping but her mother wanted her to go elsewhere. An argument ensued. Police counseled the family and a mobile assistance team responded and spoke to the daughter about her situation.
  • A mother told police at 6:33 p.m. Jan.2 she believes her minor daughter and another adult employee at McDonald's Restaurant, 544 Maple Avenue, W., were involved in a relationship. Police counseled the mother and daughter; they pair said they would speak with the employee.
  • While conducting a traffic stop at 11:39 p.m. Jan. 2 on Beulah Road NE, police detected the presence of suspected marijuana. Further investigation yielded the marijuana. The vehicle’s driver, Lucas Bockelmann, 22, of Vienna, was issued a summons for the violation. He was released after signing the summons.
  • A woman reported at 4:21 p.m. Jan. 3 she was in fear of her sister, who had arrived at a home of which she is a part owner. Police investigated and found the sister arrived at her home via taxicab. When she stepped out of the cab, her sister called police. No altercation had taken place. After speaking to both parties the sister that arrived via taxi decided to leave and go elsewhere.
  • A woman reported at 3:49 p.m. Jan. 4 that several parents are parking illegally at Lawyers Road and Sharon Lane while retrieving children from a school bus stop. Police investigated and counseled the parents about their parking habits.
  • A man reported at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 5 he was involved in an argument with his wife earlier in the day on Alma Street SE. As the argument escalated, his wife slapped the man in the face. After the man reciprocated, the wife cut him on the wrist with a letter opener. Police arrested the wife for domestic assault and took her to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Arrests

Police were called at10:30 p.m. Dec. 31 to Neighbor’s Restaurant, 262 Cedar Lane, SE, to handle a disorderly person inside the restaurant. Upon their arrival

they found two Fairfax County officers with a man outside the restaurant, whom they said had been acting disorderly throughout the night, was intoxicated, and had been escorted out of the restaurant on several occasions. He continued to return and disrupt patrons until the police were called. Police arrested the man, Adrian Marquez, 39, of Vienna for drunk in public. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

While conducting a traffic stop at 1:05 a.m. Jan. 2 near Ayrhill Avenue and Lawyers Road NW, police detected signs of alcohol use. After completing several field sobriety tests, Joseph Corrigan, 18, of Vienna, was arrested and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center for breath analysis. After the analysis he was formally charged with driving after illegally consuming alcohol (under age 21).

A man wanted on a warrant of failure to appear at a misdemeanor hearing reported to Vienna Police Headquarters at 5:30 p.m. Jan.2. Police arrested Santos Nolberto Machado- Marquez, 21, of Vienna and took him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was held without bond.

While conducting a traffic stop at 11:43 p.m. Jan. 4 at Nutley and Knoll Streets, police detected signs of alcohol use. After performing several field sobriety tests, Devin Charlie Hazard, 20, of Vienna, was arrested and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center for breath analysis. When the analysis was unsuccessful, Hazard agreed to have blood drawn for analysis. After that analysis, Hazard was formally charged with driving after illegally consuming alcohol (under age 21).
