Police Log: Worker Dies After Collapsing During Delivery On Glyndon Street

The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A worker died Sept. 9 after collapsing during a delivery on Glyndon Street SE.

The worker was delivering some fencing to a Glyndon Street home around 5:49 p.m. Sept. 9. when they collapsed. Police responded and gave the worker CPR. The worker was taken to an area hospital by Fairfax County EMS. A short time later, the worker died.

A Vienna detective is following up on the case.

As a vehicle drove West along Church Street around 6:39 p.m. Sept. 2, crossing through the sidewalk, a bicyclist entered the rood and hit the vehicle. Police found the bicyclist had ignored the stop sign and was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.

Highlights from the Sept. 9 to 15

  • An employee at Cedar Lane Center, 101 Cedar Lane SW, reported at 12:30 pm Sept. 8 he suspected students of smoking marijuana in one of the bathrooms. There was no criminal evidence when police arrived; the school will deal with the students.
  • While loading groceries into his vehicle between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Sept. 6 outside of Magruder's, a man reported he left his iPad2 in the shopping cart. When he went back to the cart he noticed it was gone. Police are investigating the case.
  • A general contractor at a home under construction on Yeonas Drive SW reported between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Sept. 10, a sub-contractor entered the home and took his mitre saw. The subcontractor thought the general contractor owed him money and wanted the saw as collateral. Police contacted the sub-contractor, who returned the saw. The general contractor did not prosecute the sub-contractor for the incident. Police gave both men information about procedures for settling future civil disagreementd.
  • A citizen on Blair Court NW reported at 4 p.m. Sept. 11 receiving an "odd" email from his nephew.  The email made the man worry about the emotional stability of his nephew. The nephew could not be reached.
  • Around 6:50 p.m. Sept. 11, a citizen reported a woman at the Vienna Shopping Center, 100 bloc of Maple Avenue SW, may have been assaulted. Police lcoated the woman, who is well known to police. She told police her mother had shaken her because she would not let go of the family dog, and also that her parents were stealing money from her. Police didn't see any signs of an assault, and the woman did not wish to prosecute the mother. Police gave her information about obtaining a warrant if she changed her mind at a later date.
  • A resident reported while parked on Mill Street NE around 9:20 a.m. Sept. 13, someone stole a side view mirror from her car.
  • An employee of the Vienna Community Center found a bicycle frame on the property around 11:50 a.m. Sept. 13. Police put the frame into storage until it was retrieved by its owner.
  • A knife was found in some mulch around 3:16 p.m. Sept. 13 near 262 Cedar Lane SE. The knife was collected and placed into storage. It is not believed to be associated with any cases.
  • Keys were found at the intersection of Church Street and Dominion Road NE around 4:43 p.m. Sept 13. Police placed the keys into storage pending retrieval by the owner.
  • A citizen passing through Moore Avenue reported around 5:05 p.m. Sept. 13 that a pit bull dog attempted to attack her and her children. She said this is an ongoing issue. Vienna's Animal Control Officer is following up on the case.
  • A resident of Glen Avenue SW reported around 6:07 p.m. Sept. 13 someone put human feces on the front porch, rang the doorbell and then ran away.
  • Police responded to Thelma Circle SW for an argument between a mother and daughter about the daughter's well being around 10:17 a.m. Sept. 14. Police took the daughter to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment by PFC Simon.
  • A woman told police her family pulled into a parking spot at the Branch Road Shopping Center around 4:14 p.m. Sept. 15. Her husband exited the vehicle, but she and her son remained insider.
  • Shortly afterward ,a vehicle pulled in behind their vehicle and a man got out, asking the woman if her car needed any body work. The woman said she didn't think there was any damage to her vehicle. The man then put a suction-type apparatus on her vehicle without her permission. The woman told her son to give the man a small amount of money, despite the fact she did not request the work. The man said it was not enough. By this time, the husband had returned to the car and told the man to leave.
  • Police obtained investigative information on the man, but the woman said she did not wish to prosecute him

 

ARRESTS

When conducting a traffic stop around 11:02 p.m. Sept. 9 at the intersection of Country Club Drive and Old Courthouse Road NE, Police suspected the driver was impaired. Police offered the driver several field sobriety tests, but ultimately arrested Michael Thompson, 47,  of
Vienna for driving while intoxicated. He was taken to Vienna Police Headquarters for breath analysis, and then to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

At a traffic stop at 3:23 a.m. Sept. 11 at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Mashie Drive SE, Police noticed the driver seemed impaired. After attempting to complete several field sobriety tests,  Michelle Sue Mi Kim, 39, Potomac, Maryland,  was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was taken to Vienna Police Headquarters for breath analysis, but could not provide a sufficient sample. She was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where she was formally charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a breath test.
