What's Open, Closed For Labor Day 2024 In Vienna
Most government offices will be closed, and some services will operate differently on Monday for the Labor Day holiday.

VIENNA, VA — Many families will head to beaches, camp sites and other vacation destinations or simply enjoy the last days of the pool during the Labor Day holiday weekend. For the holiday on Monday, many government offices and services will be closed or altered.
Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 2 this year. Here are the openings and closings to know around Vienna.
Town of Vienna government: Closed on Monday, Sept. 2.

Fairfax County government offices: Closed Monday, Sept. 2.

Fairfax County Public Schools: Closed Friday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 2.
Courts: The Fairfax County Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court will be closed on Sept. 2.
Community center: The Vienna Community Center is open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sept. 2. Through Sept. 1, the community center is undergoing deep cleaning and maintenance, so only the lobby and bathrooms are available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. It is closed Sunday.
Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers in Northern Virginia will be closed on Sept. 2.
Fairfax Connector: Fairfax Connector will be operating Sunday service on Monday, Sept. 2. Routes operating on Sundays are 101, 109, 151, 152, 161, 162, 171, 310, 321, 322, 371, 401, 402, 423, 463, 467, 558, 574, 605, 615, 630, 642, 651, 662, 672, 721, 803, 901, 921, 924, 937, 950, 952, 954, 983, RIBS 1, RIBS 2, RIBS 3, RIBS 4 and RIBS 5. Libraries: On Sept. 2, Patrick Henry Library and other Fairfax County Public Library locations will be closed.
Metro: Metrorail hours are 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. to midnight on Sunday and Monday. All lines run normal service, except the Red Line. Free local shuttles replace trains between Takoma and Glenmont, and Express shuttles operate from Fort Totten, skipping Takoma. Glenmont, Wheaton, Forest Glen, and Silver Spring stations are closed. On Sunday and Monday, normal frequencies will run between Shady Grove and Takoma stations. Metrobus will run on a Sunday schedule on Sept. 2. More weekend Metrorail information is available here.
Parks and recreation: All Fairfax County rec centers are open from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Colvin Run Mill and Sully Historic Sites will be closed, as well as the E.C. Lawrence, Hidden Oaks, Hidden Bond, and Huntley Meadows Nature Centers.
Post offices: Closed on Sept. 2.
Trash and recycling collection: Town of Vienna has regular collection on Sept. 2. Fairfax County collection customers will have regular collection services on Sept. 2. Private collection customers should check with their hauler for any changes.
