- Winchester is gearing up for an electrifying Independence Eve celebration. In Old Town Winchester, music enthusiasts can revel in the tunes at the Taylor Pavilion, with performances by Rock Bottom Band at 4:00 p.m. and The Sidemen at 7:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Jim Barnett Park will host a lively pool party from noon until 8:30 p.m., followed by a spectacular fireworks display around 9:20 p.m. at Bodie Grim Field. Visitors are reminded that outside fireworks and alcohol are strictly prohibited to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. (City of Winchester VA - Local Government via Facebook)
- The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will suspend lane closures and most highway work zones from Jul. 3 at noon until Jul. 5 at noon to ease holiday traffic. They will also waive rush-hour and express lane tolls, including on I-66 within the beltway, on the 4th of July. Travelers can plan their trips using VDOT's interactive travel trends map and access real-time information through the free mobile 511 app or 511Virginia.org. (The River 95.3)
- The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced a public hearing to gather feedback on planned improvements for a section of Va, 7 (Berryville Pike) in Frederick County. The hearing will be held on Aug. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Millbrook High School in Winchester. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in one-on-one discussions with VDOT officials and designers, while written comments can be submitted at the meeting or within 10 days after the event. Oral comments will also be recorded with the assistance of a court reporter. (Subscription: Winchester Star)
