Help with the Heat, Stay Cool
The county has some suggestions on how to stay cool this weekend.

Residents are reminded that when the temperature is 95 degrees and above, the Drop In Center will offer expanded hours until 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The address is 14730 Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridge. For more information call 703-897-0199.
Also, please remember that all area shopping malls, movie theatres and libraries are air-conditioned and open throughout the weekend.
The Department of Fire & Rescue reminds you to be careful when the temperatures are high. Symptoms to look out for include:

- High body temperature (above 103)
- Red, hot, dry skin (no sweating)
- Rapid, strong pulse
- Throbbing headache
- Dizziness
- Nausea

As with any summer day, the following tips will help you best deal with the heat:

- Wear light colors
- Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing
- Wear a wide-brimmed hat with vents
- Wear sunscreen on all exposed areas
- Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water throughout the day
- Minimize exertion and walking throughout the hottest part of the day (11 a.m.- 1 p.m.)
- Take frequent breaks and rest in a cool or shady place
