Route 1 Crash Results in Charges

An overturned car blocked the lanes of traffic Tuesday morning.

A Woodbridge woman has been charged with reckless driving after she drove her car off the Marumsco Plaza parking lot onto U.S. Route 1.

Police said that Miriam Del Carmen Blandin, 18, was pulling into a parking space at the Bank of America at 13976 Jefferson Davis Highway facing the southbound lanes when she accelerated. Blandin's 2007 Pontiac G5 jumped the curb, the grassy area and sidewalk on southbound U.S. Route 1 lanes of traffic.

The Pontiac struck a 2008 Toyota RAV4 in the right rear door and tire rotated the car clockwise and rolled it onto its roof. The driver of the Toyota, a 66-year-old Woodbridge man, was ground transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
