Wrong-Way Crash Kills Passenger, Injures Drivers In Woodbridge

A man from Alexandria was killed in a head-on crash, with the driver traveling in the wrong direction of southbound lanes.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A passenger was killed in a wrong-way crash Friday in the Woodbridge area, according to Prince William County Police.

Around 6:07 a.m., police had responded to the crash on Caton Hill Road near Killarney Drive. According to police, a 2017 Toyota Camry heading northbound in the southbound lanes crashed head-on with a southbound 2015 Toyota Corolla.

A passenger in the Camry was taken to the hospital and later died of his injuries. The passenger was identified as Elvis Gabriel Alvarez, 23, of Alexandria.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The Camry driver is a 21-year-old woman from Springfield. The Corolla driver is a 67-year-old woman from Woodbridge.

Police have not announced charges against the wrong-way driver. Crash investigators are seeking information on the crash or the driving behavior of the black 4-door 2017 Toyota Camry driver.
