23 Measles Cases Confirmed In SW Washington

Clark County Public Health's measles outbreak update added more confirmed cases and possible locations of exposure Tuesday.

VANCOUVER, WA - Confirmed measles cases in Clark County and Portland, Oregon, rose to 23 as of Tuesday, according to Clark County Public Health, which also noted two suspected cases are still under investigation.

The number of confirmed cases has risen steadily every day since the first case involving a child who traveled to Clark County from outside the United States was announced Jan. 4. Likewise, the number of locations where a person may have been exposed has also grown significantly.

Of the 23 currently confirmed cases, 18 involve kids between 1 and 10 years old, four involve teens 11 to 18, and one involves an adult between 19 and 29 years old. Only three cases still have unverified immunization records. The remaining 20 are confirmed to have occurred in non-immunized individuals.
