Bellevue Police Arrest Puyallup Sex Offender

Investigators said a four-time convicted sex offender solicited sex from an undercover detective posing as a 16-year-old boy.

BELLEVUE, WA — A Puyallup man was arrested and charged in King County this week after investigators said he attempted to pay for sex with someone he believed to be an underage boy. In charging documents filed Monday and shared Wednesday, King County prosecutors allege Christopher Longie, 49, committed two felonies.

Bellevue police said the suspect had four previous sex offenses on his criminal record, including convictions for child molestation and rape.

According to probable cause documents, the case began on March 2, after a Bellevue vice detective created a profile on an app using photographs that were "modified to appear significantly younger."

Investigators said Longie messaged the detective's account and offered him $75 to perform sexual acts, despite being told the person on the other end was 16 years old. The detective offered to meet Longie at a park, where he was arrested.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office asked a judge to set bail at $150,000, and an arraignment hearing is scheduled for March 21.
