Bellevue’s Newest Park Opens Saturday In Newport Hills
Bellevue is known as a "city in a park," and a new 13.5-acre addition opens Saturday in Newport Hills.

BELLEVUE, WA — Bellevue on Saturday will celebrate the grand opening of its newest park, adding on to its network of more than 2,700 acres of parks, trails and green space across the city. Newport Hills Woodland Park was more than a decade in the making, with levy funding allowing the city to acquire the first parcels for a new neighborhood park in the area back in 2010.
Bellevue purchased the second parcel in 2015 and the final piece in 2019, creating a combined 13.5 acres of neighborhood park space along Southeast 60th Street, south of Interstate 90. Funding for the park was finalized in the 2019-21 budget and construction began last year.
The new park features trails, forest space, a large lawn, a playground and a picnic shelter, along with exercise equipment. The city aims to open an off-leash dog area in the spring, once the grass is ready.

Saturday’s grand opening festivities begin at 11 a.m. and feature a ribbon-cutting, live local music and hot dogs.
