Student leaders in BSD secondary schools are working with staff to create partnerships that support younger learners. Through groups such as Black Student Unions, students are creating opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, education and resources geared to support the growth of younger learners

BSD schools and educators are committed to learning about Black history, experiences and achievements not just for a month, but throughout the year. Educators have provided resources, materials and guides to support each other and their own learning through cross-curricular activities.
Families can join educators, administrators and students and participate in Black History Month. Odle Middle School recently shared information on ways to celebrate, including: visiting cultural centers, supporting Black owned restaurants and businesses, and reading, watching and listening to movies podcasts, playlists and books that share the rich experiences of Black Americans.

Odle Associated Student Body (ASB) leaders recently published an issue of their Student Equity Update filled with opportunities to connect and engage. Each month, students put together educational resources, news articles and helpful tips to inform the student community. Student leader, Jennifer Xue was asked why these resources were import for the ASB to make available to students.
