Bellevue Weekend Forecast: Heavy Rain, Chance For Thunderstorms
Meteorologists are predicting heavy rain, rising rivers, and isolated thunderstorms for this weekend's forecast.
BELLEVUE, WA — The National Weather Service is calling it "a return to active weather," a spooky way of saying that yes, it's fall in Washington and yes, it's about to get really wet.
Friday is expected to be soggier than Thursday, but will seem like small potatoes by the time the weekend rolls around. NWS Seattle is predicting higher chances for rain Friday, in particular for communities over the Olympic Peninsula or north Puget Sound.
On the coast, residents can expect breezy winds dragging in cool air from the ocean through the afternoon and evening hours. A wind advisory has been issued for those areas.

Friday night is when the real show begins, however. Forecasters say to expect moderate-to-heavy rains Friday night, and winds will also be picking up, culminating in a breezy, rainy Saturday morning. Gusts in some regions will reach upward of 30 to 35 miles an hour, and could knock over power lines or potentially damage some homes.

Saturday afternoon is when the thunderstorms come in. Meteorologists predict isolated thunderstorms across the region in the afternoon and evening, bringing with them a threat for lightning and even chances of hail. Up in the mountains, snow is expected for peaks above 5000 feet.

Sunday, conditions will cool off some but the rivers will be rising because of Saturday's heavy rains. There is no river flooding currently forecasted, but it couldn't hurt for those who live on the water's edge to keep an eye out. Forecasters are also monitoring a second "significant" frontal system that could bring more rain and wind to the area Sunday. If that does come to pass, they say there is a higher chance for minor flooding along rivers.
Though the weekend is likely to be the worst of it, the weather will not be improving much as we head into next week, with forecasters predicting showers and a chance of rain through Wednesday at the very least, and a possibility that skies might clear up a little by next Thursday.
