Celebration Of Life Planned For Fallen Bellevue Officer

Eastside neighbors are invited to attend a public celebration of life for officer Jordan Jackson who while on duty this month.

BELLEVUE, WA — Bellevue will host a celebration of life next week for officer Jordan Jackson, who died Nov. 21 after a driver struck his patrol motorcycle on Bellevue Way.

Jackson was raised in Spokane and graduated from Issaquah High school before earning a degree from Central Washington University. Before joining the Bellevue Police Department in 2018, he worked as an EMT and search and rescue volunteer.

Jackson was patrolling near Bellevue High School when his motorcycle was hit by a car, and an investigation into the crash is ongoing.

"We are devastated by Officer Jackson's tragic death," said Bellevue police chief Wendell Shirley. "Our hearts go out to his wife, two children, his family and friends, and the extended BPD family as they grieve. This is a huge loss for the entire community."

Residents can attend next week's celebration of life at the Meydenbauer Center on Tuesday, Dec. 6, starting at 1 p.m. Details on a procession will be shared in the coming days. Community members may also contribute to the memorial outside the police lobby at City Hall and contribute funds to aid Jackson's family.

"Officer Jackson was an exemplary officer who was well-liked by his colleagues," said Jared Nieuwenhuis, Bellevue deputy mayor. "He frequently volunteered for community events, always proud to show off his motorcycle to all the young kids. Our hearts go out to his family and his colleagues in the department."
