Icy Bellevue Roads Continue To Present Challenges
Though there is a lot less snow on the ground, many sides streets are still coated in a thick layer of ice.

BELLEVUE, WA — Icy roads continue to present hazardous travel conditions around Bellevue, even as crews work to treat and sand tricky routes across the city. The Bellevue Police Department shared photos of multiple crash scenes Tuesday morning after drivers lost control on roadways that winter weather has turned into "ice rinks" for several days running.
The side streets are ice rinks! We're responding to multiple collisions and cars off the road. Even though the temps are above freezing, the streets are still very icy. Please stay off of them. If you do go out, drive slowly & ⬆️your distance. pic.twitter.com/gYHCOx6cv7

The city's transportation department warned of dangerous ice lingering on several roads, including Southeast 8th Street, and advised drivers and pedestrians to use extra caution if they must travel.
Unfortunately, the hits keep coming. The sanding trucks are spread out across the city laying sand down, but conditions remain dangerous on the side streets. Please be stay home if possible. pic.twitter.com/tdtYWHGEmL

The prolonged bout of winter conditions caused the Bellevue School District and several of its neighbors to start classes two hours late on Tuesday. According to the latest forecasts, more headaches may be ahead, with another round of lowland snow possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning. So far, forecasters expect new accumulations for most lowland areas will not be significant.
