Local Hero: Steve Fantle Quietly Makes Life Better In Bellevue
We all know someone who's making a difference. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Bellevue.

BELLEVUE, WA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

What does the local hero do?
Steve has worked tirelessly the past 4 years to help keep Bellevue green and clean, including: starting an organization named Bellevue Green and Clean to inspire others to help keep our city green and clean; hosting litter pickup walks around Bellevue streets, trails and parks gathering thousands of items to date; working directly with City staff and the Bellevue City Council to implement an Adopt a Street Program - which our City is finally budgeting for thanks to all of Steve's work; and Steve had just started gathering wayward shopping carts to return them to merchants - including hosting gatherings to encourage others to do this. On his first shopping cart return gathering in early October, 36 shopping carts were recovered from streets, sidewalks and trails and returned to Factoria merchants.
Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
Steve is an environmental hero, spending many hours every day working hard to inspire all to keep Bellevue Green and Clean, in addition to inspiring others to do this and helping our City staff and Council understand how litter is not just an eyesore but also creates environmental hazards.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?
How driven he is to inspire change and make a difference in our community and all communities
