BELLEVUE, WA — Westbound lanes of the Lake Hills Connector remained closed until early Tuesday afternoon after a crash with serious injuries near Richards Road. Bellevue police confirmed the crash shortly before 10:20 a.m. and asked drivers to avoid the area and plan for a long-term closure.

In a brief update shared less than an hour later, police said they were working to reopen one lane and to expect continued delays while the investigation continued. Investigators shared several photos from the scene showing a silver sedan with major front-end damage. Police said the driver crashed with enough impact to eject the car's engine, which crossed two lanes of traffic and landed on the side of the road.

According to investigators, firefighters had to cut the driver from the vehicle and he was rushed to the hospital. No other vehicles were involved. The police department will complete a full investigation into the crash. The roadway fully reopened shortly before 1:30 p.m.
