New Bellevue Tower Area's Largest To Be Completed In 2023: Report

BELLEVUE, WA — A 42-story Bellevue tower is on track to be one of the largest new office buildings to be completed in the U.S. this year, according to a new report.

According to CommercialCafe, Bellevue will be home to the Seattle area's biggest office property completed this year, and the 10th largest in the nation scheduled for delivery in 2023. The firm also found the greater Seattle area had the seventh-most office space under construction in the first quarter of the year.

Once complete, the Vulcan-owned 555 Tower will be Bellevue's tallest skyscraper, standing at 600 feet with one million square feet of space inside. Despite hitting pause on some expansion plans last year, GeekWire reports Amazon still plans to lease the building and occupy the first 19 floors.

According to Vulcan, the tower was designed to meet LEED v4 and Salmon-Safe certifications. The building features multiple outdoor terraces, providing panoramic views across Lake Washington, and will host a public plaza and large parking garage. The tower also has 30,000 square feet designated for retail.

"The tower is shaped by destination amenities on transfer floors, where terraces and balconies offer spill-out space and views to the south, culminating in a top-floor terrace behind iconic spires which reach to the sky," Vulcan writes. "On both sides, the colorful curtainwall is inspired by cascading rainfall. Drawing upon the agricultural history of Bellevue, the pavilion roof recalls angular crop outlines, which merge with gestures in the street-level landscape and Grand Connection hill-climb."
