AUBURN, WA — An Auburn woman required airlift to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Thursday night after she and a friend were both struck by a car in a McDonald's restaurant parking lot, according to local police.

The two women, both in their 40s, were injured when the driver struck them around 7 p.m. May 23 at the McDonald's located at 1400 Lake Tapps Pkwy E. The driver of the vehicle reportedly stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

According to KOMO News, the driver told police he didn't see the women — possibly because the sun was in his eyes. Impairment is not considered a factor, police said.

The collision itself was relatively low-impact, authorities said; but one of the women hit her head against the pavement after she was struck, which reportedly put her in serious condition. The other woman was taken to hospital in Auburn with a minor injury.
