BLHS Student Expelled for Possession of 'Large Knife' at School
A Bonney Lake High School student was expelled Wednesday after bringing a knife with a four-inch blade to school. He told police he brought it to school to trade it to another student for a hacky sack.

On Wednesday, Feb. 9, a student was expelled after he was found in possession of a "large knife" on school grounds.
According to the police report, the knife had an approximate four-inch blade with a wooden handle and was secured in a sheath. The student was found with it when he walked through the scanners of the library with another male student. While the scanners are meant to detect book barcodes, they also can detect metal items.
The librarian made the students open their book bags after the scanner went off to verify they didnβt have any library books. As they entered the library, the student quickly passed a folded shirt to his friend. His bag was searched and nothing was found, but then when she searched the other studentβs bag, the librarian found the large knife in the side pocket.

The student admitted that he brought the knife to school because he made a deal with another student to trade it for a hacky sack. The juvenile said he had the knife in his backpack and tried to pass it off to the second boy so he would not get in trouble. He wrapped the knife in the shirt but his friend was unaware of what it was when he took it. The student with the hacky sack, who was not at the library, verified the story but said he had advised his friend to not bring the knife to school.
The student was emergency expelled from Bonney Lake High School and he will be charged with possession of a dangerous weapon on school facilities. He was released to his parents.
