Boiler Booms at Residential Pool House in Sumner
Sumner Police and East Pierce Fire and Rescue responded to an unusual call about large "booms" on Boyd Ave. on Jan. 17.

Loud "booms" on Boyd Ave. worried neighbors this week, beginning on Jan. 14. A resident called Sumner Police on Jan. 17 to report the noises and ground trembles.
During the interview, the officer heard the explosion and felt the ground actually shake. He discovered it was coming from a nearby residential pool house. While attempting to contact homeowners, the officer heard and felt it two more times. The officer called East Pierce Fire & Rescue, who shut off the gas and called PSE. PSE discovered it was a boiler issue in the pool house and capped the line. Â
It was very important that the neighbors called this in so that it could be fixed before it became any more dangerous.
