Bonney Lake Homeowner Wakes to Intruder, Fires Shotgun at Fleeing Vehicle

A napping Bonney Lake homeowner was woken by a would-be home burglar. He grabbed his shotgun and fired one bullet at the suspect truck as it fled the scene.

A Bonney Lake homeowner awoke around 9:45 this morning to a would-be intruder, who first rang the doorbell then attempted to kick his door in.

The home is located on the 8000 block of 205th Ave. E., just off Church Lake Road. The man was sleeping at the time, heard the doorbell and ignored it. Then, the man heard kicking sounds at his front door.

According to Bonney Lake police officer Todd Green, the homeowner grabbed his shotgun and opened the front door to find the suspect standing on his porch. The suspect fled to his truck, which was parked in the driveway. As he was leaving, Green said the homeowner fired a single shot at the truck.

Police don't believe it hit the suspect car at this time.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, stocky build with dirty blonde hair. He was wearing a black jacket, mirrored sunglasses and grey wool gloves.

The suspect's truck was an older model blue Ford truck, with a stepside. The homeowner said there was significant body and paint damage to the vehicle. It had a black ladder rack and an orange or red newer model generator in the bed of the trunk, along with a pink bicycle.
