Bonney Lake Man Loses Home in Single-Wide Fire
A fire started in a home on the 20600 block of La Paloma Drive East around 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Firefighters fought the fire with ammunition in the home and extreme vegetation surrounding the property.
A Bonney Lake man escaped a fire that started in his single-wide manufactured home on the 20600 block of La Paloma Drive East on Monday evening.
The blaze started around 5:30 p.m. but firefighters were able to quickly contain it, according to East Pierce spokesperson Dina Sutherland. While they were able to extinguish the fire quickly, it wasnβt without effort. Crews had to use chain saws to cut through the vegetation and a privacy fence to reach the back of the house. Low hanging power lines and stored ammunition also posed a threat to the firefighters.
The man was treated on the scene for possible smoke inhalation but not transported to the hospital. The house was a total loss but an estimated value of the property has yet to be determined. The Pierce County Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire and fire crews worked with the American Red Cross to help the man find housing for him and his pets.
