While officers cleared the residence, they noticed several items were pulled from dresser drawers and were strewn all over the floor. The woman noted that several items were missing, including a laptop, Nintendo Wii, two digital cameras, some cash and an air pistol. Three laundry baskets were gone, which police believe were used to transport the items. The homeowners also noticed that the perpetrators drank a couple bottles of their water, took a bite of some cheese and left it outside the refrigerator and that one of their toilets was clogged with paper.
Police couldn’t lift any fingerprints from the scene but provided the couple with a case number for follow-up.

Commerical Burglary
12:30am: Officers were dispatched to Sherwin Williams for a commercial burglary alarm. The front window of the Sherwin Williams had been broken out. Auburn K-9 came to help clear the scene – it did not appear to investigators that anyone had been inside the business. A rock appeared to have been used to break the glass.
Officers noticed someone in a nearby dumpster with a flashlight. The subject was too busy digging through the trash to notice the officer standing near him and the man was ordered out of the dumpster at gunpoint and detained.
He told police that he did not know anything about the broken window and added that he was pretty loud while shifting through the dumpster. He was released from the scene.
Police located two other men sitting in a red Honda nearby – they were ordered out of their car at gunpoint. Both men told police they were in the car waiting for a friend to call and they didn’t know anything about the broken window. Police saw an open beer can in the car and police believed the two men were waiting behind the business because they did not want to get caught drinking.
Both men were released from the scene but told to walk home, since neither had a license.
Harassment, Juvenile in Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
4:50pm: Officers were dispatched to a harassment complaint at a residence on S. Island Dr. E. The reporting party said their 15 year-old son had been receiving text messages from another juvenile trying to sell or obtain drugs.
The parent told police that his son borrows his cell phone and had posted that number on his Facebook page. The parent said that on that day, he began receiving text messages from an unidentified number asking if he was still interested in doing some kind of trade for Adderall or Clonidine, both commonly abused prescription medications. The parent said he started responding to the messages to try and figure out who it was, and was finally able to identify him as a neighborhood boy who used to be friends with his son. He didn’t allow his son to hang out with that boy anymore, since he stole from him.
The other boy denied having any continuing friendship with him.
Police had the man text the boy and told him that he wanted to meet him at Inlet Island Park to give him some drugs. About an hour later, officers saw the juvenile boy and a friend walking toward the park. Police stopped the boy and questioned him about his interest in buying and selling prescription drugs. The boy denied it but admitted he had a marijuana pipe in his pocket.
The boy was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. His friend was transported back to his grandmother’s house.

Shoplifting
6:49pm: Officers were dispatched to Safeway for a report of a shoplifter in custody who was being combative and fighting with loss prevention officers.
Police found three officers holding down a man they immediately recognized to be James Haselwood, a 21 year-old man for multiple shoplifting accounts.
Haselwood admitted to stealing multiple items from Safeway but said it was because he was homeless and needed food to survive. He had tried to steal some cheese, energy drinks, chocolate pie and an egg sandwich by hiding the items in his backpack. When approached by loss prevention, Haselwood tried to flee and told them he couldn’t be arrested because of his warrant, but was eventually detained.
Haselwood was trespassed from Safeway and arrested for theft and criminal trespass.
