Stolen vehicle

3:34pm: A policeman was on patrol on the 19300 block of Church Lake Rd. E. when he observed a dark-colored Buell Blaster motorcycle with two occupants on it traveling westbound and going 49 mph. The officer attempted to stop the motorcycle but it drove up a long driveway. He contacted the male driver and female passenger. When asked why the couple didn’t pull over when they saw the police officer, the man replied that he wanted to get off the roadway before the officer activated his lights. They did not know anyone at the residence.

The man had a suspended license and did not have registration for the motorcycle and the officer advised that the vehicle would be impounded, but he could leave. Once dispatch ran the plate numbers, it was confirmed that the motorcycle was stolen out of Bellevue. Police re-contacted the man, who said he had just been released from Pierce County Jail and wanted a motorcycle, so he started looking on Craigslist. He said he found that motorcycle online and purchased it for $150. The officer asked the man if he thought it was suspicious that the bike was so cheap, but the man said he was just excited to get it running. His passenger was his girlfriend, who didn’t know the bike had been stolen. On closer inspection, the bike had obviously been painted from yellow to dark blue and the ignition was extremely damaged, like it could have been started with any key. The man was transported to Pierce County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, speeding over the legal limit and driving with an expired vehicle license.

Road rage, gun possession

6:16pm: Officers were dispatched to the area of SR 410 E in the 21400 block for a report of a male subject with a gun. The reporting party was an off-duty police sergeant. The man was driving a brown Chevy truck eastbound from 214th Ave. E. He continued into the City of Buckley and a high-risk stop was completed. The man was taken into custody and stated he had a gun on the dashboard of his truck.

The man said that the off-duty sergeant was driving out of control on his cell phone and almost hit his vehicle. He stated he became scared and pulled out his gun, racked a chamber and put it on the dashboard. The sergeant said he entered eastbound SR 410 in heavy traffic and when he got beside the man’s vehicle, he pulled out a gun, racked a round and pointed it at him. When asked why he had a gun in his car, the man said it was an “ego thing.” He was booked at Pierce County Jail for Assault 2.

Beer Run

12:19am: An officer were dispatched to a report of beer theft at the Chevron West at 18321 SR 410. The officer was advised that a suspect stole two 18 packs of Tecate beer and apparently dropped one of the cases in the parking lot. The suspect was on the security tape, which the manager of the store handed over for evidence. About 20 minutes later, ampm West called to advise police of another beer theft. The suspect matched the description of the theft from Chevron and the officer was advised the suspect stole two cases of Coors beer and fled on foot. The clerk told police she had seen this man before and he was with another man. She said he had purchased cigarettes from her in the past and knew he lived in the Myers Road apartments. She was also able to identify what kind of car they drove.

Police responded to the apartment complex but did not find a car that matched that description. No further action was taken.
