The woman said that the truck unexpectedly backed into her and she jerked her leg back to prevent being run over. The car then struck a parked car, causing minor damage. The driver got out of the car and appeared to be more concerned about the woman calling 911 than if she were injured or not.

The owner of the parked car was told of the accident and the woman received medical treatment for her injuries. The man’s car was towed from the scene and he was arrested for DUI.

At the station, the man refused to speak to officers and claimed that he did nothing wrong, arguing that he was on private property, and it shouldn't be a police matter. His BAC level was .193.

Dec. 14

Malicious Mischief

Officers were dispatched to Goodwill for a report of malicious mischief. The female caller told police that she had gotten into a dispute with an elderly man over her car being parked on the white line marking a parking spot. She said the man was hostile and slammed his car door into the side of her car. When she tried to stand behind his vehicle to prevent him from leaving, he tried to run into her. He seemed to seriously want to run her over, so she got out of his way and he took off toward Fred Meyer. She described the man as in his ‘70s and wearing a “veterans” ball cap.

Police ran his license plates and the car’s owner, a Puyallup man, had several reports of malicious mischief, assault and domestic violence charges against him. Police called his voicemail and left him a message, requesting for him to call back.

The man returned the officer’s call and he admitted to getting into an argument with the woman earlier that day but denied slamming his car door into her car. He said the woman put hands on him and he declared that she assaulted him. He denied pressing charges and said he understood it was a hectic time of year, due to the holiday shopping season.

The case was forwarded to the prosecutor for review.

Dec. 15

Attempted Suicide

Officers were dispatched to a home on 183rd Ave. E for a report of a female who was under the influence of several prescription medications and may have attempted suicide.

Her father met police at the door and said that his daughter had a long history of abusing prescription medications and was in bed. She had been diagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder and suffered from seizures.

The man said that since this had happened before, he waited for a while before calling police, because he assumed she would sober up soon. He then found her on the back porch, unresponsive and wearing only a bathrobe in 38 degree weather. He carried her back inside and found several prescription bottles on her nightstand.

Police contacted the woman, who appeared disoriented and groggy. She couldn’t remember the correct date or time and didn’t know where she was.

The woman was involuntarily committed to a mental hospital for evaluation.

Dec. 17

Threats at School

Officers were contacted by a woman who said her daughter, who attends White River High School, told her that a boy at school created a “hit list” with intent to harm other students. The woman said that the Pierce County Sheriff had taken a report on the possible threats earlier that week, but that since then, the boy downloaded explicit personal photos onto his Facebook account and didn’t appear to be in any kind of trouble. Her daughter had commented on the photos and told him to remove them from his profile. He responded by cursing her and told her to leave him alone.

The woman said the boy never threatened her daughter but she was afraid he would take out his anger in some way.

She gave police a copy of the comments written on Facebook and police are following up.
