Bonney Lake Police Raise Nearly $2,000 For Breast Cancer Research

Officers wore pink all last month, and collected hundreds of donations to help in the fight against breast cancer.

BONNEY LAKE, WA β€” The Bonney Lake Police Department is wrapping up a successful drive to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research.

All last month, participating BLPD officers were decked out in pink badges and breast cancer ribbons, and collected donations for American Cancer Society, to help out in the fight against breast cancer. All told, the department says its officers raised more than $1,900 for breast cancer research.

The police department says breast cancer is a problem that affects everyone, but it's an issue that hits close to home: one retired department member and another active member are both survivors, and there are two department spouses currently battling breast cancer.
