Bonney Lake Police to Strictly Enforce Fireworks Laws This Year

Abide by local fireworks laws or risk a fine or imprisonment.

As you stock up on sparklers, firecrackers, flying spinners and poppers for this year’s Fourth of July, be warned – Bonney Lake Police will strongly enforce fireworks laws this year.

Here’s a note from BLPD on what’s allowed, and when:

  • It is unlawful for a person to ignite, discharge, use or explode any consumer fireworks except between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. on July 3rd and on July 5th; between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight on July 4th.
  • Only "Safe and Sane" fireworks may be ignited for personal display.Β For information and a list of legal fireworks in Washington State,Β contact the State Fire Marshal at (360) 596-3913Β or visitΒ www.wsp.wa.gov/fire/fireworks.htm.
  • Also, it is unlawful for any person to discharge fireworks on the property of another without permission of the owner of such property.Β 
  • It is unlawful for any person to discharge fireworks in a public park unless a written permit has been obtained from the city.Β 
  • It is unlawful for any person to discharge fireworks on city property that is not a park without the express written permission of the city.Β 
  • Any person violating any provision of the City fireworks code is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for a maximum term fixed by the court of not more than 90 days, or by a fine in an amount fixed by the court of not more than $1,000, or by both such imprisonment and fine.
