Dana Powers Sworn in as Interim Chief of Police

At the Tuesday night city council meeting, Bonney Lake's Justice Center was packed to capacity with police officers, well-wishers and family to celebrate the swearing in of Interim Chief Dana Powers.

"It's a great day for the city of Bonney Lake," said Mayor Neil Johnson.

At the Bonney Lake police station, Powers has taken over Chief Mike Mitchell's office and has been acting as interim chief since Sept. 16.

Powers will act as interim chief for a year on a trial basis. Johnson has stated that he plans to name her permanent chief after that date, unless unforeseen circumstances arise.
