The Pierce County Landmarks & Historic Preservation Commission will hold its regular meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the Foothills Fire Station #16 located at 10515 234th Ave E, Buckley.Β At this meeting, information will be provided to interested parties on how properties are listed on the Pierce County Historic Register, tax incentive opportunities associated with the Historic Register, and information about the 2012-2013 Preservation Grant opportunity.Β
This meeting will also include a lecture aimed at demystifying the major residential styles from 1880 to 1930.Β Titled βID Please!Β Period Architectural Styles,β the lecture will help property owners identify a Dutch Colonial from a Tudor, a Craftsman from a Bungalow, and other old house style conundrums.Β The lecture will be given by Ms. Caroline Swope, a Pierce County Landmarks Commissioner and author of Classic Houses of Seattle.Β Ms. Swope is the owner of Kingstree Studios, a design and historic research studio in Tacoma.
